Bumi Resources

PT Bumi Resources Tbk (Bumi) went public on Jakarta Stock Exchange and Surabaya Stock Exchange (now the Indonesia Stock Exchange) in 1990. The Company resolved to transform its core business from hotel and tourism to oil, natural gas and mining at EGMS August 13, 1998. Bumi acquired Gallo Oil (Jersey) Ltd. in 2000, Arutmin Indonesia in 2001, and PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in 2003. In 2000, Bumi changed its name from PT Bumi Modern Tbk to PT Bumi Resources Tbk.

KPC and Arutmin together owned 34% of Indonesia coal exports market share in 2007. KPC mining is the 2nd biggest coal export mining in the world. Bumi plans to diversify its business portfolios and income by entering mining areas such as copper, gold, iron ore and coal bed methane. This is reflected in Bumis achievement in acquiring an Australian company, Herald Resources Ltd in 2008 which was operating Dairi Project in North Sumatera – a zinc and lead mining.
